Dr. Charles McCormick III

Charles O. McCormick, III, M.D. received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University in 1971 before completing his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1975. A rotating internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis preceded his ophthalmology post-graduate training at Indiana University School of Medicine through 1979. He became a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1981. Dr. McCormick is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in advanced technology cataract care, intraocular lens implantation, and ORange® technology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association, and the Johnson County Medical Society. He is a former president of the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, former advisor to Vision Council of America, current Beta Theta Pi Foundation board member, and Indiana University College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Advisory board member.
Dr. McCormick was recognized by the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology as the Ophthalmologist of the Year 2001. He has supported several charities and developed the McCormick Science Grant for basic science research at Indiana University and the EDNA Fund (Education in Drugs, Narcotics & Alcohol) in Johnson County. Dr. McCormick is a third generation doctor. His daughter, Amy, is completing her medical school work (in 2014) as the 4th generation doctor in the McCormick family. He is co-founder of the Indiana Eye Clinic.
Dr. Nicholas Rader
Nicholas Rader, M.D. earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine after being awarded Phi Beta Kappa honors in premedical studies. Following his internship at Highland Alameda County Hospital in Oakland, California, Dr. Rader completed his ophthalmology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1979. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in advanced technology cataract care, intraocular lens implantation, ORange® technology, and refractive surgery. Dr. Rader’s memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Societies, and the Johnson County Medical Society. He served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine, is a past director and committee chairman for the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, and a former president of the Johnson County Medical Society.
Dr. Rader has over 25 years experience in all types of refractive surgery dating back to 1983 when he became one of the first surgeons in Indiana to perform radial keratotomy. Since then, Dr. Rader has had an ongoing commitment to the refractive patient, with extensive experience in a wide variety of refractive procedures, including Epikeratomileusis, Epikeratophakia, RK, ALK, Intacts, Refractive Lensectomy, Astigmatic Keratotomy and LASEK. He is the co-founder and medical director of the Indiana Eye Clinic.
Dr. William Keeling
William F. Keeling, Ph.D., M.D. graduated from Wabash College in 1984 and received his Ph.D. in Medical Physiology and Biophysics at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1988. In 1992, he completed his medical degree with highest honors at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Following an internship at St. Vincent Hospital in 1993, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the top-ranked University of Iowa Ophthalmology program in 1996. Dr. Keeling is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Society, and the Indiana Medical History Museum. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Keeling specializes in surgery of the eye with a particular interest in laser refractive surgery, advanced technology cataract surgery, and accommodating and multifocal IOLs. He has completed specialized training programs in Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomaleusis (LASIK and LASEK) and Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK). Other areas of interest include glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics, and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Keeling comes from a long line of physicians, dating back to the 1700s. Most of his predecessors have practiced in the central and southern regions of Indiana.

Dr. David F. Box
David F. Box, M.D. earned his medical degree in 1983 from the Indiana University School of Medicine with highest distinction, and undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology in 1979. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine. His internship was at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Box was an Air Force Physician with the Indiana Air National Guard. He completed training in Aerospace Medicine at the United States Air Force School of Aviation Medicine, and he served as a Flight Surgeon with the Indiana Air National Guard and Federal Aviation Administration.
Dr. Box is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in the surgical and medical care of the eyes and visual system, including cataract surgery, IOLs, laser refractive surgery, and prevention of eye disease. His memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association, and the Marion County Medical Society. Dr. Box was selected by Indianapolis Monthly as one of the Top Doctors in Indianapolis in 1998 and 2001, and Guide to Top Doctors in America 2003. He was selected by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the Top Ophthalmologists in America in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010. He also serves as an ophthalmology medical consultant.
Dr. Box opened his private practice, known as Southside Eye Associates, in 1987. He merged his practice with the Indiana Eye Clinic in 2009. Dr. Box is available to see patients in the Indianapolis office. He is affiliated with Franciscan St. Francis Health.
Dr. Carissa Barina
Carissa M. Barina, M.D. graduated from Purdue University, earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She has a Master of Science Degree in Pathology from Indiana University.
Dr. Barina is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, and Indianapolis Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Barina is a volunteer faculty member at Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology. She specializes in advanced technology cataract care and surgery, IOLs, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma treatment, laser vision correction, macular degeneration, and comprehensive eye exams.

Dr. Thomas Funk

Thomas M. Funk, O.D. is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of St. Joseph’s College. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 1983 and joined Indiana Eye Clinic in 1987. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association and the Central Society of the Indiana Optometric Association. Dr. Funk provides comprehensive eye care for adults and children. He also provides vision rehabilitation (low vision) examinations and assists low vision patients with vision rehabilitation services, low vision aids, and other resources to help them adapt to vision loss and to continue enjoying life.
Dr. Funk has made a number of optometric mission trips to rural communities in El Salvador where he has provided eye care to local residents and assisted local doctors in their community health efforts.
He has served as Chairman of the St. Pius X School Commission and has been a member of the Tamarindo Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Funk is available to see patients at our Greenwood and Plainfield locations.
Dr. Ronald Brinegar
Ronald J. Brinegar, O.D. graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1989 and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1993. He remains active in the Indiana University community and currently serves as president of the Indiana University School of Optometry Alumni Association. Dr. Brinegar is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Indiana Optometric Association, and Stonebelt Optometric Society.
While his services include eye disease and wellness examinations for adults and children, Dr. Brinegar’s main interests are specialty contact lens designs for astigmatism and presbyopia, and treatment for dry eyes.
Dr. Keely Allen
Keely D. Allen, O.D. earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, Magna Cum Laude, and graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Indiana Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Allen provides complete eye exams for all ages and manages vision-related eye problems. Her special interests include contact lens fittings for those who prefer contacts instead of eyeglasses — including new technology HD contact lenses, monovision contacts, multifocal contacts and specialty contact lenses for patients with keratoconus or corneal irregularities.
Dr. Allen is available to see patients in our Greenwood, Plainfield, and Indianapolis offices.
