Dr. Charles McCormick III
Charles O. McCormick III, M.D., is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in advanced technology cataract care and intraocular lens implantation. Dr. McCormick received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University in 1972 before completing his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1975. A rotating internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis preceded his ophthalmology post-graduate training at Indiana University School of Medicine through 1979. He became a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1981. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association and the Johnson County Medical Society. He is former president of the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, former advisor to Vision Council of America, current Beta Theta Pi Foundation board member and Indiana University College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Advisory board member.
Dr. McCormick was recognized by the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology as the Ophthalmologist of the Year for 2001. He has supported several charities and developed the McCormick Science Grant for basic science research at Indiana University and the EDNA Fund (Education in Drugs, Narcotics & Alcohol) in Johnson County. Dr. McCormick is a third-generation doctor. His daughter, Amy, is completing her medical school work (in 2014) as the fourth-generation doctor in the McCormick family. He is co-founder of the Indiana Eye Clinic.
