RSVPs for the Indians game must be submitted by 5:00 pm Wednesday – May 16.  We cannot add attendees past this date due to ticket allocations.  Only those with game tickets will be admitted to the picnic.

Nick is a first year Optometry student at IU who has joined us in the clinic as an ophthalmic technician for the summer.  He and his wife Crystle live in Greenwood. Welcome, Nick!

Bionic eye gives sight to the blind in medical breakthrough   –  Scientists in the UK have given sight to the blind using bionic eyes. Electronic microchips implanted into the eyes of a group of British patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, an incurable genetic condition that causes blindness, have partially restored the vision of the formerly sightless so that they’re able to view the world as a “grainy black-and-white image.” The first British recipient said the bionic eye gives him “some imagery rather than just a black world.” Another patient reported suddenly dreaming in “very vivid color for the first time in 25 years” because a part of his brain had been reactivated.

ORANGE IS NOW ORA (pronounced “oar-uh”)

The Orange Wavefront Aberrometer has been rebranded as the ORA™ System which utilizes Optiwave™ technology with a precise new light source & optics designed to take intraoperative wavefront aberrometry to a new level of performance.  Our system was upgraded and our MDs are using the new technology.  We can use our current marketing materials, with Orange as the name, until new brochures are delivered.

We’re saddened for our co-worker and dear friend, Tina Fergason, by the sudden loss of her husband, Randy. Funeral service on Saturday, May 5 at 11 am at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland (located on the east side of US 31, just south of Tracy Rd.).

Thank you everyone for working over, offering to cover hours, and going to other locations to help this week!  Indianapolis office shared April who came to help special testing in Greenwood, Stuart offered his afternoon off  Thursday to work in Greenwood, Michele, Erin, Jamie and Suzie came to help, Greenwood Techs worked overtime and everyone in every office stepped up to get the job done! 

We are so blessed and grateful to have such a loyal “family” at IEC.  Thank you to everyone!
